On 3 July, the team of the exploratory project COMMEMORtis – What Survives After Death? Parish Communities and Death Commemoration Strategies in the Medieval City awoke to excellent news. The project’s Scientific Report, submitted in the summer of 2024, was evaluated as Excellent, by the scientific panel of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

This evaluation was the culmination of rigorous and solid work carried out by the project’s coordination, researchers, consultants, research fellows, and IT and administrative staff. This work was conducted in various parts of Europe, with the Centre for the History of Society and Culture and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra as its main hosts.

This evaluation honours all those involved and encourages us to continue reflecting on the themes of this project in the future.
